AFAID Prevention Strategy
Our prevention strategy combines numerous efficient interventions to maximize reductions in new infections. The most significant intervention is peer education. AFAID places a heavy emphasis on Peer Education, as it allows young people to effectively engage in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
A peer is a person who is the same age as another or is equal in status. When young people are surrounded by their peers, they often feel more comfortable and accepted. This is why AFAID AIDS Awareness Clubs are very effective in spreading the word about HIV/AIDS to young people.
AIDS Awareness Clubs are implemented in schools. Through these clubs, young people not only spread the Anti-AIDS message in their schools and communities, but they also learn to make responsible decisions about their sexual health so that they can avoid HIV infection.
